Bring your dog for Fourth of July fun beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Astro’s Dog Run. Food and refreshments will be provided but if you would like to bring a pot luck dish, you are more than welcome to!
A huge thank you is due to the all the volunteers who turned it out to create a stunningly successful fix-up day. For those who could not participate today please consider volunteering in the future. (Which begins tomorrow) As you can see by the outstanding results when we work as a selfless team remarkable things happen.

THE THEME OF THIS YEAR’S ANNUAL FIX-UP DAY IS THE IMPORTANCE OF VOLUNTEERISM. THE TALENT POOL OF OUR MEMBERSHIP IS OVERFLOWING AND WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT USED TO IMPROVE THE RUN, OUR EVENTS AND OUR FUTURE IN OUR EVER-CHANGING NEIGHBORHOOD.
WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF ALL ABLE MEMBERS WE CAN TURN THE DOG-RUN FROM ITS CURRENT STATE OF SHABBY TO TRÉS CHIC IN A DAY. (Isn’t it exciting?)
WE WILL BE PAINTING, SANDING, RAKING, PRUNING, PLANTING AND ENJOYING EACH OTHER’S COMPANY. BEVERAGES AND SNACKS WILL BE PROVIDED.

Dear Astro’s Dog-run members,
It is with great pleasure and gratitude that we can announce that Rebecca, a member of Astro’s dog-run who is a landscape artist by profession has offered to take on the responsibility of disinfecting the dog-run (and other important contributions) on a regular basis on the first Monday of each month. Please join in thanking Rebecca for her gracious and generous offer. This development is great indicator that the volunteer spirit at Astro’s dog-run is alive and well.
Please be advised that the run will now regularly be closed from 10:00am-2:00pm on the first Monday of each month.
As per usual we will ask that someone volunteer to put a sign out each Sunday eve to reach those members who may not have email. This is an huge development as keeping the run safe and healthy for our dogs and members is priority number one.
Please also note that the time of the registration portion of our annual fix-up/registration event on SATURDAY MAY 12TH will be from 12-Noon until 3:00pm. (The equally important fix-up will begin at 10:00am and continue until we are satisfied with the job we’ve done)
SORRY, NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED AT AT THE RUN DURING THE FIX-UP EVENT. THERE CAN BE NO EXCEPTIONS. THERE IS TOO MUCH ACTIVITY TAKING PLACE AND PAINTING AND STAINING THE FURNITURE, PLANTER BOXES ETC NEEDS TO BE DONE IN A DUST FREE DOG FREE ENVIRONMENT.
Please bring cash or checks to pay for your annual fee and new key (and any charitable contributions any members wish to make over and above the $25.00 fee)
The 2012- 2013 Registration form found on the Registration page is now available for download and we will have forms available at the registration event. Also, we are trying to update our membership list so please make it a point to give detailed and accurate contact info as we are receiving insane numbers of bounce back emails using the information we currently have.
PLEASE COME READY TO HELP SPRUCE UP THE RUN IF YOU ARE ABLE. WE WILL BE RAKING, SCRUBBING, PLANTING, PAINTING AND REVITALIZING THE FURNITURE FOR THE UPCOMING SUMMER SEASON. A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER AND LEAVE YOUR POSITIVE FOOTPRINT IN THE GRAVEL AT ASTRO’S DOG-RUN.
Hello, Members!
Saturday, May 12th (time and details TBA) the annual FIX-UP/ REGISTRATION DAY will be held to coincide with the HKNA annual neighborhood event at 35th Street to encourage fill membership participation. The Council Members and those who have already volunteered to help produce this event have all agreed that the vision for this year is to spotlight volunteerism toward improvement of the Run and fuller participation of all members in Management/Administration and success of Astro’s Dog Run Community, the pride of Hell’s Kitchen Dog Runs. In that spirit, please contact me at michaelvincentaustin@mac.com or Tara Boragine at tboragine@hotmail.com if you’re interested in contributing your time and talents to the May 12 event and inform us of your particular skills and interests that you could lend to helping make this event a great success.
As a friendly reminder, there is no paid maintenance staff at Astro’s Dog Run and the $25.00 yearly fee that is a registration fee that does not but any able member exemption from contributing to its upkeep and maintenance. Our shared gratitude to all those you are already generously-giving participants, and a warm welcome to those who will be joining us in performing the duties this upcoming year that continue to make Astro’s Dog Run a gem within our community.
