Summer has finally arrived and who can imagine a more pleasant place for people and pups to play ball, socialize or kick back and relax under the cool shade of the wisteria within the urban oasis of Astro’s HKN Dog Run Community?
Our goal is to provide a safe and fun retreat for members and their canine pals. Check this site often for announcements and information regarding how to get the most out of the summer season at this gem of our community!
A huge thank you is due to the all the volunteers who turned it out to create a stunningly successful fix-up day. For those who could not participate today please consider volunteering in the future. (Which begins tomorrow) As you can see by the outstanding results when we work as a selfless team remarkable things happen.
Dear Astro’s Dog-run members,
Disinfecting of the dog-run will occur on a regular basis on the first Monday of each month.
Please be advised that the run will now regularly be closed from 10:00am-2:00pm on the first Monday of each month.
As per usual we will ask that someone volunteer to put a sign out each Sunday eve to reach those members who may not have email. Your cooperation is appreciated, keeping the run safe and healthy for our dogs and members is priority #1.
The 2013-2014 Registration form found on the Registration page is now available for download and we always have forms available at the registration event in May and they are also available at CB4 on 42nd St.
Also, we are trying to update our membership list so please make it a point to give detailed and accurate contact info as we are receiving insane numbers of bounce back emails using the information we currently have.
Astro’s is an all volunteer dog-run, all the time. We are completely independent from the city which requires all able members to be active volunteers. PLEASE HELP SPRUCE UP THE RUN IF YOU ARE ABLE. Picking up your dog’s waste IS NOT VOLUNTARY. It is also incumbent upon the dog owner to rinse the pooper-scooper if your dog’s waste is loose or runny. A hose has been provided for that purpose. PLEASE take out the trash when it is half full when it is not so heavy. The longer it sits the more toxic it becomes. Replacement bags are provided under the full bag. If they have run out please leave a note on the community board. Volunteering is A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO LEAVE A POSITIVE FOOTPRINT IN THE GRAVEL AT ASTRO’S DOG-RUN and a great way to get to know other members better. Volunteerism is the cornerstone of the dog-run community.
